Celebrate WV: Tygart Lake
June 17 @ 7:00 am - 8:30 pm
Celebrate West Virginia with a special performance by Mick Souter at Tygart Lake State Park on Friday, June 17, 2022. The program is free to attend, open to the public and park guests, and family friendly.
Souter is a performing artist from Elkins, West Virginia. This multi-instrumentalist storyteller will be staged in the lawn area of Tygart Lake Lodge beginning at 7:00 pm. Naturalist Jacob Jackson hosts the event and says “Souter uses traditional Appalachian old-time instruments, and the show is family-friendly. It’s great for all ages.” Souter plays banjo, mandolin, fiddle, dulcimer, autoharp, guitar and harmonica stylings, and attendees are encouraged to participate by singing and having fun. The program touches on the history of farming and railroading in West Virginia.
Souter has made thousands of appearances at festivals, theaters, state parks and schools throughout West Virginia and several other states throughout his nearly 30-year career. He references himself at “West Virginia’s Bard of Education.”
