Join Park Naturalist Paulita Cousin and staff for interpretative programs and hike about the nature and heritage of Blackwater Falls State Park, March 4 -6, 2022.

Vultures-Nature’s Cleanup Crew
Join naturalist, Paulita, to learn the different type of vultures found in the area and their role in the ecosystem. Afterwards create your own baggie of vulture vomit (slime) to take home. About 45 minutes. YPP

Tree Nature Film
Let’s watch a film about how trees talk to each other and other amazing facts about these silent sentinels. About 30 minutes. YPP

Meet our Turtles
Join park naturalist, Paulita, for an introduction to turtles found in West Virginia and meet our nature center live turtles. A free craft is included during the turtle presentation. About 1 hour. YPP
11:00 a.m.
Let’s Make a Candle
Join the staff to follow the process of creating a candle. Can take time for wax to harden depending on weather, etc. Craft fee: $3.00
12:00 p.m. Friendship Bracelet
The artful crafter, Brittany helps you create a bracelet weaving embroidery floss. FREE.
1:00 p.m.

Hibernation Hike
Park naturalist Paulita meets you at the trailhead of Elakala trail (near Blackwater Lodge) for this walk along a rock and root strewn trail while learning about some of our wildlife and plants survival techniques in winter. About 1 hour, 1 mile. YPP S
