Did you know you can visit 3 Waterfalls in this One State Park?!

Home to Blackwater Falls, one of the most iconic waterfalls in the state, Blackwater Falls State Park also boasts two lesser-known cascades — all stops on the West Virginia Waterfall Trail. Check in at all three natural wonders and receive an official Waterfall Trail sticker for your exploration efforts! Especially magical during the autumn months, this park boasts jaw-dropping views, scenic trails, family-friendly adventure and cozy lodging options.

🔎 Blackwater Falls

One of the state’s most iconic landmarks, Blackwater Falls stands at an impressive 57 feet tall. Begin at Blackwater Trading Co. and stroll down the boardwalk to the lowest platform for an up-close-and-personal look at this stunning sight. While here, be sure to grab a selfie on the Almost Heaven swing! This natural wonder can also be seen by taking the ADA accessible Gentle Trail, located on the opposite side of the falls.

🔎 Elakala Falls

A true hidden gem within the park, Elakala Falls is a series of four waterfalls with a distinctive red hue — stained by fall hemlock and red spruce needles. Begin at the Backwater Fall Lodge parking lot, taking the footpath to the right. Look down as you cross the wooden bridge to catch the water pouring over the staggered rock steps.

🔎 Falls of Pendleton

Although these falls are not accessible by trail, a glimpse of these remote cascades can be seen with a quick pull-off at the roadside overlook. If you listen closely, the rushing of the waters can be heard echoing across the canyon. Water stumbling over moss-covered cliff can be seen during early spring or winter when the trees have less leaves.
