Whether you want to hike a short trail or take on a more difficult trek, each trail at Cacapon Resort provides great examples of the rocky outcroppings that make this park so special. Here are a few of our favorite trails:

Ridge Trail

This trail starts at the bathhouse or bridge near the beach and leads you past sandstone outcroppings on Warm Springs Ridge and Indian Run. Features pine and mixed hardwood trees, laurel, flowering shrubs and wildflowers and elevations ranging from 900 to 1,080 feet.

Distance: 1.5 miles
Difficulty: Moderate

Ziler Loop

This trail will take you to the top of Cacapon Mountain, the tallest point in West Virginia’s eastern panhandle. Start at the Batt Picnic Area, near Cabin 1, Cabin 10 or from either log cabin area road. Features incredible views from 2,200 feet.

Distance: 5 miles loop
Difficulty: Moderate

Rock and Roll Trail and Middle Fork trails

These two trails are new to Cacapon Resort and can be used by hikers and bikers. Check in with the park office for more information and a trail map.

Places to Stay at Cacapon Resort State Park

Cacapon Lodge
With indoor and outdoor dining, a spa and a view of the park’s golf course, Cacapon Lodge is the perfect place for adventurers to wind down. The newly-renovated lodge features 124 rooms and offers a relaxed setting complete with a lounge, TV, board games, fireplace and cozy furniture.

Cabins
Cacapon has 31 cabins located throughout the park. Experience the comforts of your home away from home in one of the park’s classic or vacation cabins or get some much-needed rest and relaxation in a lovely wooded area by staying in a legacy or economy cabin. For a unique stay, check out the Old Inn, which was the first lodge in the West Virginia state parks system. The Old Inn is perfect for family reunions and group retreats and features 12 rooms and a large dining room and meeting space that can accommodate up to 32 people.
