PARKERSBURG, W.Va. – The final “Tea on Tuesday” at Maple Shade on Blennerhassett Island is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 29. Maple Shade, also known as the Putnam-House House, is an original 18th-century style wooden house where Margaret Blennerhassett would have enjoyed tea with Charlotte Loring Putnam.

“We are sure that the Putnam family hosted many social gatherings in this home which was built in 1802,” said park events coordinator Pam Salisbury. “We look forward to planning more activities for our visitors in this grand home in the coming years.”

This is the final “Tea on Tuesday” event for the 2017 season. The Island Belle sternwheeler will depart for Blennerhassett Island from Parkersburg’s Point Park at 11 a.m. Upon arrival, guests will be escorted to horse-drawn wagons, which will take them to and from Maple Shade for tea.

The cost for attending this special morning tea is $26 per person. Space is limited and reservations are required by calling 304-420-4800. Learn more about Maple Shade and Blennerhassett Island Historical State Park at www.blennerhassettislandstatepark.com.
