Cathedral State Park Trails

Ready for a hike? The peaceful shade under Cathedral State Park’s dense leafy canopies, accentuated with rhododendrons, birdsong and a mountain stream, creates a serene atmosphere visitors are sure to enjoy. Hikers can amble along the park’s three miles of trails and see an abundance of plant and tree species as well as wildlife creatures.

Easy

Giant Hemlock Trail – 0.2 Miles

Several of the largest hemlocks in the park are found along this route, hence the name, “Giant Hemlock Trail.” Soak in the beautiful trees and scenery on this brief, easy trail.

Trillium Trail – 0.1 Miles

For a short, easy hike, strap on your comfy hiking shoes for Trillium Trail. This short path connects to Cardinal Trail.

Cardinal Trail – 0.2 Miles

For an easy hike and an enjoyable way to observe wildlife such as deer, birds and squirrels, head to Cardinal Trail.

Wood Thrush Trail – 0.6 Miles

Wood Thrush Trail, an easy route, is unique because it is divided by Route 50.

Easy to Moderate

Partridge Berry Trail – 0.6 Miles

Partridge Berry Trail makes a great trail to observe wildlife such as deer, birds and squirrels. Short and moderately easy, this trail is suitable for experienced and beginner hikers alike.

Moderate to Challenging

Cathedral Trail – 1.1 Miles

Enjoy hiking this moderately challenging trail. Footbridges are available where the trail crosses the Rhine Creek.
