Town of Buckhannon

West Virginia State Wildlife Center

The West Virginia State Wildlife Center is a modern zoological facility displaying native and introduced state wildlife. Operated by the Wildlife Resources Section of the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources, the Wildlife Center is dedicated to presenting visitors a realistic and factual understanding of our state’s wildlife. The Wildlife Center aims to accommodate all guests with a 1.25 mile long wheelchair trail on hardwood forest and is located approximately 35 miles from Audra State Park.

Philippi Covered Bridge

About 11 miles from Audra State Park, the city of Philippi was the site of the first land battle of the Civil War on June 3, 1861. Built in 1852, the bridge here was heavily utilized by both sides during the Civil War. Severely damaged by fire in 1989, the bridge has been restored to its original appearance.
