Winter Wonder Weekend

Monarchs, migration and Mexico add a bit of color and summer promise to one of West Virginia’s most popular winter weekends at North Bend State Park. The weekend is all about Monarch butterflies and pollinators, their conservation and importance to the ecosystem all while enjoying winter activities like sleigh riding (weather permitting), winter hikes, tours of local attractions, programs, crafts and entertainment.

Special presentations by Bill Beatty of Wellsburg and Sue Olcott, WVDNR with a program on Magnificent Monarchs, are planned. These Beatty and Olcott naturalists/biologists are two of the Mountain States’ premier habitat speakers. The band Stepping Stone of Bridgeport provides evening entertainment. Reservations are necessary. Multiple packages are available for accommodation in North Bend Lodge or cabins and include all activities, crafts, and five full meals in North Bend Dining room plus an ice cream social and snacks. Double occupancy at North Bend Lodge is $150 per person for the total weekend cost. Other lodging preferences are available.

Registration should occur by January 11, 2019, and all registration is completed by Wendy Greene at 304-558-2754.
