West Virginia Hall of Fame – Pipestem Resort State Park

The West Virginia Hall of Fame and the Pipestem Foundation are honored to induct the 37th member into the Hall at Pipestem. Garnet Mimms performed during the 50s, 60s and 70s, selling over one million copies of his hit “Cry Baby” in 1963. He has performed throughout the United States and in 12 different counties. Garnet is originally from McDowell County and graduated from Stratton High School in Beckley. After leaving the music business, Mr. Mimms focused his talents on a prison ministry and preaching the Gospel.
