Weekend Nature Activities: Twin Falls

Twin Falls features these nature programs August 13 and 14, 2022. Join us.

The nature center is open Thursday – Saturday from 3-7 PM and Sunday, 3-6 PM. There is no fee to attend programs or the nature center.

Saturday, August 13, 2022

3:30 pm — Huckleberry Trail Hike
Meet at Scout Field Parking Lot
Pass by the Pioneer Farm and wander through the woods. We’ll enjoy a relaxing Hike on the Huckleberry Trail. Closed-toed shoes recommended for this hike.

6:00 pm — Snakes a Plenty (YPP)
Held at the Campfire Circle
Whether out in the woods or at home, snakes take advantage of habitat. This program is a short talk on respecting these creatures for all the good they accomplish in our environment.

4:00 pm — Turtle Talk (YPP)
Held at the Campground Fire Circle
Turtles are animals that people recognize. Let’s talk about how to protect box turtles our only land turtle and water turtles. We have a cool coloring sheet about box turtles as part of this program.

5:30 pm — Invasives. Oh My (YPP)
Held In the Nature Center Yard
Invasive plants and insects can and have had a detrimental effect on West Virginia. Join the us for a short talk about some of these problems and how to identify some of the culprits.

YPP stands for ‘young people for parks’. YPP programs encourage kids 6-16 to explore nature but are open to anyone to attend.

The Nature Center is located beyond the cabin area as you drive toward the campground. It is the small brown building tucked away on the left, just a short distance past the ball field road.
