The weekend is all about spring. Enjoy these programs and activities at Blackwater Falls with Park Naturalist Paulita Cousin March 19-20, 2022.

10:00 a.m.
Green Day Hike
The hike begins from the graveled Blackwater Falls Overflow/Bus parking area near the main park intersection. The hike will be on River Road Trail that meanders along the Blackwater River on an old railroad grade to the town of Davis.

This is an out and back hike of about 3½ miles with limited stops for interpretation. Sturdy shoes or hiking boots are necessary. Packing a water bottle and a snack is recommended. Binoculars are encouraged to get the full view of the beauty of this area. . The hike is led by Park Naturalist, Paulita Cousin, NAI/CIG. Hikers completing the hike receive a Green Day Hike patch. There is no charge to participate.

American Black Bear
Join the park naturalist to learn about West Virginia’s state animal; the Black Bear and how to become bear aware About one hour. YPP

The nature center is open from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.

11:00 a.m. Squirrel Nature Film & Craft
Join Brittany for an hour long film about these cheeky nut lovers. Paint and glue together a wooden squirrel while enjoying the nature film. Craft fee: $2.00 YPP

Craft Surprise
Visit the nature center to find out what surprise Brittany has pulled out of the craft cabinet today. Craft fee varies.

The nature center is open from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.
