Spring Activities: Pipestem
March 10, 2022 - March 13, 2022
Pipestem Resort sits on the east rim of the Bluestone River Gorge, which carves through the plateau to the scenic Bluestone River 1,200 feet below. Visit the Nature Center, which is open Thursday & Friday 11 am – 5 pm, and Sunday, 11 am – 5 pm except for times when other activities listed below are scheduled. Open to the public, spend time at the exhibits and heritage structures and sit a spell in our West Virginia made rocking chairs and watch the birds.

Meet Julie at the Nature Center for information on the exhibits in our Nature Center.
5:00 pm Mammals of Pipestem- Meet Julie at the Nature Center to learn about seven different mammals you may encounter at Pipestem and see their pelts.

Meet Julie at the Nature Center for a quiz game about North American wildlife.

Nature Hunt
Meet Julie at the Nature Center. She will hand out a list of objects outside to look for in Nature. (1/2 – 1 hour)

Green Day Hike @ Pipestem
Join Park Naturalist Julie McQuade for the Annual Green Day hike at Pipestem Resort State Park on March 12, 2022 This year’s hike will follow golf course holes 1 through 9 along the golf cart path at the 18-hole golf course and cover 2-½ miles. We will meet in front of the Golf Pro Shop at 4:00 pm. Participants will receive a Green Day patch upon completion. Feel free to deck out in your favorite St. Patrick’s day bling. The Naturalist will also hand out green beads before the hike.

Bird Count
Stop by the Nature Center to observe and count the birds at the feeders. We will count the highest number of each species seen at a time. Data collected will be submitted to Project FeederWatch for the Cornell Lab of Ornithology. In addition this week’s bird counts will be submitted as part of the Annual Great Backyard Bird Count.
Nature activities are open to the public and free to attend.
