National Trails Day Hike: Chief Logan

June 4, 2022 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

Set foot at Chief Logan State Park to take a hike on National Trails Day with park naturalist Lauren Cole. The Coal Mine Trail is a moderate hike of about four miles. The pace will be determined by participants. Short stops are part of the activity to learn about the impact of coal in Southern West Virginia as well as flora and fauna encountered along the trail. Youth should be accompanied by an adult or responsible individual.

Meet at the “Pickin’ in the Park/Activities Building” at 10:00 a.m. The meeting area near and below the campground area with ample parking. Please wear clothing appropriate for the weather and only closed-toed walking or hiking shoes. There is no fee to participate.

When visiting Chief Logan State Park, visit the wildlife center. If staying overnight take advantage of making reservations for the campground, deluxe cabins, or lodge w/ restaurant.
