September is Monarch Butterfly Migration. Join the park naturalist’s at the nature center for programs on the Monarch lifecycle, migration, crafts, and games.
At 10 a.m. is Monarch Butterfly Migration. Come and learn about WV’s state butterfly! Enjoy some fun crafts and games.
At 1 p.m., Monarch Tagging and Release starts – followed by a Monarch Waystation Garden Tour. Every year, we bring in monarch eggs and caterpillars from our Monarch Waystation garden to watch the amazing life cycle of the monarch butterfly. While we wait for them to emerge from the chrysalis to tag and release. Learn what plants you need to help this species survive.
2 p.m. marks the start of Monarchs in Mexico. Did you know that monarch butterflies travel over 2,000-3,000 miles to the same location every year? Join Park Naturalist, Valerie Chaney, as she shares her travels to the monarch sanctuaries in the central mountains of Mexico.
