Summer fun at Cacapon is about things you find in nature. Join us July 6 – 7, 2022 for these free programs and if you can’t attend an activity visit the nature center that is open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily. Activities are at the nature center unless indicated.

Morning Paddle Boat

Look up! What type of cloud do you see? Join seasonal naturalist Allen Miller to learn about some common clouds. YPP

Woodpecker Wow!
Learn Cacapon’s common woodpeckers by sight and sound: Pileated, downy, red-breasted and red-headed.

About the nature center:
The nature center is a great stop for all ages, showcasing exhibits on the park history and the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) Camp Morgan 1934-41. Other West Virginia natural exhibits include an extensive taxidermy collection of wildlife- fish, birds, fox, bobcat, mountain lion, deer, elk, and eastern gray wolf! Also, hands-on sand displays for wildlife tracks and a new geology interactive map to design your own mountains, rivers and lakes.
