Mid-June Fun: Pipestem

June 13, 2022 - June 19, 2022

Take advantage of family friendly activities at Pipestem Resort State Park June 13 – 19, 2022. Activities are free of charge and open to the public as well as park guests. The Nature Center is open daily from 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and activities are at the nature center unless indicated.

SPECIAL EVENT
Jonben Slate Concert: Pipestem Amphitheater
8:00 pm – 10:00 pm
Jonben Slate band performs a diverse mix of classic rock, country, and blues and can be heard at festivals, reunions, and similar events around southern West Virginia. The concert starts at 8:00 p.m. at Pipestem’s outdoor amphitheater. Plan on two hours of great music. Advance tickets are $3 and at the gate is $5. Tickets may be purchased at Pipestem’s McKeever Lodge front desk (304) 466-1800, or at the gate.

About Jonben Slate:
The band’s name is a reference to the old slate dump they grew up playing on near the historic coal mining town of Jonben in Raleigh County, WV. Hinton, West Virginia-based, Jonben Slate is comprised of Keith Mills on vocals, guitar, and keyboard; brother Leslie Mills on lead guitar; cousin Susan Duncan on lead and backing vocals; cousin Zane Mills on guitar and bass; Cousin Cameron Stracener on drums and vocals; and adopted brother Rick Moorefield on bass. “My mother may leave me alone for long periods of time, sometimes hours or even all day. Even if you don’t see my mother nearby, I don’t need to be “rescued”. Please give me some space and do not disturb me. Please leave me alone. My mom told me to stay put and that’s what I’m doing. I’m fine!”
