Join local historian Doug Wood in the Bluestone State Park Event Building as he discusses the journey of Mary Draper Ingles. Ingles escaped captivity in the 1700s and traveled on foot through the wilderness of present day West Virginia and Virginia to return home to her family. Wood will explore her capture and escape, the native populations who lived in the area, and the wars that affected them all. He will also take a look at at the prehistory of the Bluestone and New Rivers and how they shaped the future.
