History Alive! with Doug Wood

July 12, 2024 @ 7:00 pm

The year is 1774, and Lord Dunmore’s War rages across the Western Virginia frontier. Hear the story of Thomas Ingles, son of Mary Ingles, who was captured along with his mother by the Shawnee and raised among them. As a young man Thomas returned to Virginia and fought in the conflict known as Dunmore’s War, a major stepping-stone to the American Revolution, and also served at the Battle of Point Pleasant.

Come experience first-hand historical interpretation as presented by Doug Wood portraying Thomas Ingles. You will get to hear Thomas’ story and speak to the presenter about the time period. This event is free and open to the public at the Nature Center Lawn Area. History Alive! is a presentation of the WV Humanities Council.
