Hello August Activities: Bluestone

Activities at Bluestone State Park for August 6 – 8, 2022 catches attention in August. From dipping candles to giant bubbles and nature hikes, Naturalist Jonathan Lipscomb invites family and friends to participate in outdoor fun. Activities are open to the public and free to attend unless there is a small craft fee.
Saturday, August 6, 2022
2-4pm
Dip candles
Join the naturalist behind the activities building next to the fire ring to learn about traditional lighting and make a dip candle. Candles are $1 exact change taken on site or prepay in the office.
4-5pm
Bird House Building
This craft/activity meeting at the activities building in the pines to build a bird house. Houses will be hung around the park or take yours home for $10. *ypp
6-8pm
Tye dye
The swimming pool is the place to meet to create a one of a kind souvenir. shirts are $10 for a park shirt, $5 if you bring your own.
8:30-10pm
Night Fishing
Join Naturalist Jonathan at the fishing pier to go night fishing, bring a pole or borrow one of ours. Children under 15 fish for free all others need a fishing license which can be purchased at wvhunt.com

Join me at the meador bathhouse to create sidewalk chalk art
3-5 pm Giant bubbles and Water Rockets
Meet at the Meador Campground Bathouse to play with some amazing bubbles and launch water rockets

9-11am
Fishing
Join me at the fishing pier below the office to learn about fishing and the aquatic wildlife in our park. Bring a pole or borrow one of ours. Children under 15 are free all others need a fishing license which can be purchased at wvhunt.com If you’re new to fishing, we’ll help you get started. *ypp
1-3pm
Nature Hike
Naturalist Jonathan will meet everyone at the park office to take a hike along the beautiful Big Pine Trail. This is a 2.5 mile (each way) hike along one of our ridges. Long pants, closed toed shoes, and water are strongly recommended. *ypp
*ypp are young people for parks programs. These programs are focused on fun education for ages 6-16. However, all ages are welcome to attend.
** All children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
