Green Day Hike – Blackwater Falls State Park

Join a park naturalist in the parking area of the former stables/current trailhead of Davis Trail for a hike along a section of three park trails to receive this year’s Green Day hiking patch! This hike will feature a variety of beauty, from lush colonies of rhododendron and mountain laurel, towering Yellow Birch, Eastern Hemlock and Red Spruce to colorful sphagnum moss filled bogs with mosses and lichens along the trail and perhaps a vernal pool or two.
This trail is natural terrain so expect wet mucky areas, exposed roots and rocks with little change in elevation. The trail is less than 2 miles and expected to be about 90 minutes.
Sturdy shoes are required and we recommend packing water and a sealed bag of snacks for you and your pet. Leashed and well behaved dogs are welcome to attend with their owner. Visiting the restroom at Blackwater Falls Lodge or Trading Company prior to arrival is suggested as there is no restroom available at this location.
