Full Moon Hike: Cass

Hike by the light of a full harvest moon at Cass on September 30, 2023.

The “Full Harvest Moon” hike at Cass Scenic Railroad begins from the visitor’s center at the Cass Company Store. This evening walk, led by Park Superintendent Marshall Markley or designee, is about three miles round trip with a slight grade, but mostly flat hiking. The hike is free and open to the public.

The September full moon is known as the Full Harvest Moon. Most often, the September full Moon is the Harvest Moon which is the Full Moon that occurs closest to the Fall Equinox. At the peak of harvest, farmers can work late into the night by the light of this moon. Other names for the September Full Moon are the Autumn Moon, Corn Harvest Moon, Falling Leaves Moon, and Child Moon.
