“COAL” – An Outdoor Drama : Chief Logan

“COAL” is the August theater production staged and performed at the Liz Spurlock Amphitheater at Chief Logan State Park. The drama begins at 8:30 p.m. This outdoor theater drama is presented nine evenings in August, 2023.
According to www.thearacomastoryinc.com, “COAL” transports you to the coal mines of Logan, West Virginia, during the Great Mine Wars and the Battle of Blair Mountain in 1921. You will witness the struggles, triumphs, and sacrifices of hardworking men who toil beneath the earth in this inspired by true events story about Jake Coleman who mined the coal and struggled to support his family, his wife Opal who had high hopes for her family, his young son Matthew who wanted to be a union miner, and his daughter Laurel who worked at the coal company’s store and falls in love with a coal company man.
“COAL” features a cast of twenty and includes several Broadway World Award winners from 2021’s production. “COAL” received “Best Play” honors along with “Best Performer”, “Best Supporting Performer”, “Best Costume Design”, “Best Direction”, “Best Lighting Design”, “Best Scenic Design”, and “Best Sound Design.”

Tickets in Advance: Adult $12, Seniors (55+) /Student (11 yrs. thru college) $10, Child Tickets (4-10 yrs): $8.
