August Activities: Coopers Rock

Three guided activities at Cooper Rock State Forest are focused on outdoor diversity are planned for August 5 – 7, 2022. Join Naturalist and Certified Interpretive Guide Aubrey Bartman for these nature-based activities. Participation in any or all hikes and activities is without cost, however children must be accompanied by an adult.

TREE IDENTIFICATION HIKE
Meet at the Reservoir Parking Area across from McCollum Campground to explore the tree species found at Coopers Rock State Forest. Everyone appreciates trees and even more when you can identify some, learn insects and animals that use specific trees for food, shelter, etc.

WILDLIFE BINGO
Meet at the Camp Store in McCollum Campground for some fun playing a Coopers Rock styled bingo game!

WILDLIFE In COOPERS ROCK
Gather near the Trading Post to learn about the wildlife you may see in the forest. We’ll have some cool things to look at to spur conversation and imagination.
We welcome everyone to our activities.
When visiting Coopers Rock State Forest and the Bruceton Mills and Morgantown area, take time to visit the Museum of Geology & Natural History. It is located at 1 Mont Chateau Road, Morgantown. Open from 8:00 AM until 4:00 PM Monday through Friday. Admission is free and there are dinosaur bones and if you like geology – this is a great place to be sure to visit.
