Blackwater Falls is just the start! Head over to nearby Canaan Valley Resort State Park. While Canaan is most known for its great slopes during ski season, it also is a popular place for biking, hiking, and golf! For more outdoor fun, the Canaan Valley National Wildlife Refuge offers 16,225 acres of managed wilderness. The refuge features 31 miles of year-round trails, hunting, and fishing opportunities.

Stop by another state park and see a piece of history at Fairfax Stone State Park. This four-acre park is the home of the Fairfax Stone, a surveyor’s marker and boundary stone used in the 1700s to settle a boundary dispute over land in the English colonies of Maryland and Virginia. One of the oldest markers in the United States, this stone rests at the junction of Tucker, Grant and Preston counties and marks the boundary between Maryland and West Virginia.
