First Day Hike: Cacapon

First Day Hikes are a great way to get outside and start the new year off with some fresh air and exercise. Hikers are encouraged to participate in the group hike or hike on your own. Each hiker earns the participant a First Day Hike patch.
First Day Hikes are free and open to the public. All hikes will start at the Nature Center at 10 a.m. Please wear appropriate outerwear and winter shoes or boots.
- Hovermale Trail: Hike with park naturalist Valerie Changes on a 2-mile easy hike near a family homestead and a meandering stream.
- Cabin Loop Trail: Hike with Potomac Valley Master Naturalist, Clark Dixon, for an easy one mile loop to start the day.
- Laurel Trail: hike with Potomac Valley Master Naturalist, Dale Kirchner, for a moderate 2½ mile hike with mountain and lake views.
