From Rick K and the Allnighters in concert to Bird Bingo, there’s a lot happening at Pipestem Resort State Park August 24 – 27, 2023 including a car show.

THURSDAY, August 24, 2023

10:30 am- It’s For the Birds *YPP
Meet staff inside the Nature Center for a conversation on our bird feeding space, birding apps commonly used, and common bird feeder birds. Enjoy the center or stick close to our bird watching area for some relaxing birding. Birds viewed during this activity will be submitted to ebird.org as a citizen science opportunity. (30min)

2:00 pm- Hummingbirds: Magic in the Air *YPP
Meet at the Activity Shelter behind the Nature Center to learn some interesting facts about our favorite little feathered friends. (30 min)

4:00 pm- An Extraordinary Ordinary Moth
Meet in the Activity Shelter behind the Nature Center to hear a storybook story about a moth. Then color a picture of a moth any color you want. A great activity for kids or adults who love moths. YPP

8:00pm- Go Batty for Bats *YPP
Cute or creepy, bats are a very important part of our environment. Join us at the Activity Shelter behind the Nature Center to learn about some of WV’s native bat species and ways that they support our ecosystem.

FRIDAY, August 25, 2023

5:00 pm- Wildlife Game *YPP
Meet at the Nature Center for a quiz gameabout North American wildlife. (30 min)

6:00pm- Beginner Archery *YPP
Meet at the Campground store to practice your archery skills. (1 hour)

7:00 pm- Live Music at the Black Bear Lounge

7:30 pm- Campfire Time! *YPP
Meet at the fire ring behind the Campground store to learn how to make char cloth, a fire-starting assistance, and make fire using this primitive fire starter. We will also roast some marshmallows. Bring a camping chair if you have one. (1 hour)

SATURDAY, August 27, 2023

2:00 pm- Nature Hunt *YPP
Meet at the Nature Center. We will hand out a list of objects to look for in Nature. Once you find them, you receive a prize! (30 minutes)

4:00 pm- Pipestem Heritage *YPP
Meet at the Nature Center for an in depth tour of our heritage structures and to see pictures from the past taken in our own park.

Oldies Car & Motorcycle Show – CAR SHOW
For the 23rd year, the Oldies Rock & Roll Weekend Car & Motorcycle Show and concert is happening at Pipestem Resort State Park on August 26, 2023. The car show is produced and organized by Myron Anderson with A&R Productions. There is no charge to check out the various vehicles and to enjoy a day at Pipestem and the car/motorcycle show. Registration begins at 8:00 am and the show concludes at 4:00 pm.

8:00 – 10:00 pm – CONCERT
Rick K & the Allnighters Show: Pipestem Amphitheater

It’s an evening of rock n’ roll oldies, country and pop music. The evening includes showmanship and hilarious high jinx in addition to favorite popular music spanning 50 years of style. It is “great family entertainment”. This band performs at the outdoor amphitheater for an evening concert. They are entertainers and do a remarkable two hour show.
Ticket price is $10 dollars at the gate and $8 in advance. The show is open to the public. Attendees are not required to stay overnight at the park. There is ample parking for this event. For ticket purchase or information call 304 466 1800 or email pipestemsp@wv.gov

8:30 am- Church Service
Meet us at the Amphitheater for Sunday service.

10:00 am- Country Roads Walk *YPP
Meet at Park Headquarters to walk along the road and into the woods to learn some pre-park history. (1 hour)

5:00 pm- Bird Bingo *YPP
Come by the Activity Shelter at the Nature Center for a few rounds of Bird Bingo and learn some interesting bird facts. (45 minutes)

Young People for Parks
YPP is an environmental education program for children ages 6-16. To complete the program, participants attend three specified activities during their stay. These program are indicated by *YPP. For more information visit the Nature Center.
