Wild at Home! The 53rd annual Nature Wonder Weekend at North Bend State Park is September 16-18, 2022. Learn about your favorite wild edibles in your own backyard. North Bend’s weekend program is a foragers paradise where you can discover a richness in Nature’s simplicity. Edible wild floods and experienced leaders make this weekend wonderful.
About our featured leader, teacher and author
Experience the oldest and most basic subsistence activity of humankind with keynote speaker Sam Thayer, renowned author and forager of Forager’s Harvest. He will excite and educate you about foraging for wild foods and show you how you can expand your appreciation and understanding of the natural world. About leader led hikes and workshops
Choose from several hikes led by knowledgeable wild food experts throughout the weekend.
Many workshop choices will be available, ranging from wild edible identification, preparation, and medicinal uses of your finds will help you bring foraging home. You’ll be able to share your wild food cooking skills during the wild food contest and work with others to hone your skills for the social hour.

Share your wild food culinary skills during the Friday evening wild food and wild cake contests and the Saturday social hour and wild drink contest. Plenty of opportunities to learn
About meals and lodging
Although wild foods are featured throughout the weekend, five traditional Appalachian style meals will be available in the North Bend lodge restaurant. Lodging options include lodge rooms, deluxe vacation cabins completely equipped for housekeeping with a full kitchen and bath, or your choice of campground sites ranging from non-electric to full hookup.

34th Annual Wood-Faust National Wild Foods Association Wild Foods Contests
Contests include: Hazel Wood Commemorative Wild Food Contest (categories of Main Dish-Wild Meat and Dessert). Best Wild Cake ( A Bill Faust award). The Wild Drink Award is in Memory of Maxine Scarbro and the Wild Friendship Cup.
Advance registration is required. Registration fee is $35 per participant and lodging at North Bend Lodge and North Bend cabins and meal options vary.
