West Virginia State Parks

Make the best of your WV state park camping experience

Observe campground rules and regulations

Camping is one of the best ways to experience nature. Nothing quite compares to the sound of gentle rain on your tent roof, or the pleasure of sitting around a crackling campfire at night. Many West Virginia state parks and forests offer camping accommodations for RVs and tents, as well as unique lodging like yurts and equestrian campsites.

For the best camping experience, you’ll want to familiarize yourself with the camping rules and regulations. Let’s work together to make sure everyone has a fun and memorable camping trip!

The Basics

General Campground Policy

The number of vehicles or units on a site, payment, cancellations, and refunds is good to know prior to making a reservation. Check with the specific park or forest where you plan to stay for details.

A general set of rules applies to all state parks and forests. Visit Rules and Regulations for more information and to review actions that are prohibited.

Unique Camping Experiences

You can enjoy yurts at Tomlinson Run State Park. Yurts are circular structures consisting of a durable fabric cover, tension band and a wood frame. Yurt sites come with a set of bunk beds as well as other amenities.

At Camp Creek State Park and Forest, the Double C Horse and Rider Campground is perfect for those traveling with horses to go trail riding. There is also an equestrian campground, separate from the park’s other two campgrounds.

Camping Reservations

Start planning your Almost Heaven camping getaway today! Some campgrounds operate seasonally, while others, including Beech Fork State Park, Twin Falls Resort and Pipestem Resort are open year-round, weather permitting.
