DESCRIPTION:Voyage!  Two state parks welcome you in 2023 with accommodations and dining at North Bend State Park and a blend of activities at Blennerhassett Island Historical State Park.  \nVoyage!  Stay overnight at North Bend Lodge and enjoy dinner and breakfast. The package is for two individuals.  If you have time while at the park\, get outside and play mini golf which is also included.  The mini golf is near the lodge.  There are also trails nearby to hike or a comfortable lobby to sit and relax. \nVoyage!  Blennerhassett Island Historical State Park is about 40 minutes from North Bend State Park.  Voyage includes on-the-island experiences for two individuals:  a horse drawn wagon ride/tour of the island (The Hardly Able Carriage Company is your host)\, a Blennerhassett Mansion tour led by docents providing the history of the structure and the island\, and most important\, two tickets to board the Island Belle sternwheeler to travel to and from the island.  Additionally admission to the Blennerhassett Regional History Museum is part of the Voyage package. \nVoyage! This packaged experience is for two individuals sharing a room\, two dinners\, two breakfasts\, two sternwheeler ride tickets\, and two tickets for wagon ride\, mansion tour\, and museum admission. The Voyage package is $299.99.  The cost also includes all applicable taxes and meal gratuities.  Transportation from North Bend to Blennerhassett Island State Park is not included. When making reservations and wanting to add another night stay at North Bend\, the reservationist may extend a reduced room rate for additional nights.   \nVoyage! DESCRIPTION:The Eagle Point Trail officially opens at Bluestone State Park on Saturday\, May 20\, 2023. \nFind Naturalist Jonathan Lipscomb at the overlook located along the park road between the main entrance and the office at 9:00 a.m. for a guided hike. The trailhead begins a short distance away. \nThis is a new trail and is a very strenuous trail (2 miles for the round trip) ascends to a commanding and historic view of Bluestone Lake and the Bluestone River. Please be sure to bring water and wear sturdy\, closed-toe shoes. Long pants are also a good idea. \nLipscomb will share trail development and the Bluestone area history along the way and at the viewshed area. This trail is not recommended for young children or pets due to its steep terrain and high cliffs. DESCRIPTION:Learn about the Blennerhassett Estate Gardens and Grounds during this outdoor tour on Blennerhassett Island on Saturday\, May 20\, 2023 at 1:00p.m. \nBesides its beautiful island Mansion\, what was the Blennerhassett Estate really like? During this tour of the grounds\, participants will learn what gardens and other period buildings existed as a part of the Blennerhassett Estate in 1806 based on historical findings. This program begins with a first-person presentation by “Mr. Peter Taylor\,” the Blennerhassett English gardener.  \nThe Estate’s Pleasure Garden was 2 1/3 acres in size. What did it include? Details and features of this Pleasure Garden as well as the Kitchen Garden and the Orchard will be shared.  \nA program handout along with garden renderings will be provided. The cost of this one-hour program is $5.00 for adults. It is a rain or shine event. Dress for the weather. Mansion porches/picnic shelters can be used if it rains. DESCRIPTION:Live birds of prey at Beech Fork State Park are presented by the Three Rivers Avian Center (TRAC) on Saturday\, May 27\, 2023 at 2:30 p.m. The educational birds are a great opportunity to learn what birds say “who cooks for me\, who cooks for you all?” as well as meeting other raptors. \nThis afternoon program is all about raptors native to West Virginia: hawks\, eagles\, falcons\, and owls. You’ll learn about the habitat\, diet and behavior of each bird presented\, the most common causes of injury to each species and the laws protecting these special birds. \nThere is no fee to attend. Open to the public\, the program lasts about an hour and is staged in the Administration Building also known as Park Headquarters. Questions are welcomed. This is a family friendly event. An excellent presentation for all ages.
