SUMMARY:WV Public Employees Golf: Pipestem
DESCRIPTION:The 30th annual WV Public Employee Golf Tournament is May 2\, 2022 at Pipestem Resort State Park. Open to federal\, state\, city\, county or public education employees and retired employees of the same are welcomed to enter. Tee it up and participate. \nA shotgun start at 9:00 a.m. on Monday\, May 2 on the 18-hole Championship Course is a rain or shine event. Trophies and prizes are awarded to both Men’s and Women’s Divisions\, Low Gross and Low Net (Calloway System)\, closest to the pin\, longest drive contest and additional games and prizes. The per person tournament fee is $60 per player and includes greens fee\, shared cart\, meal\, and pre-tourney range balls. DESCRIPTION:Test your endurance at the EHQ Valley Falls 6 & 12 hour race\, Saturday\, May 7\, 2022. With 750′ of vertical gain per ~5.25 mile loop it’s not an easy course! Gravel service roads\, single track trails\, streams\, rocky climbs\, rolling trails\, and of course the beautiful falls – this event has a bit of everything! Trail will be very clearly marked. \nThe Race starts at 7AM and the clock stops at 7PM. Only full laps will count towards your total distance. Poles are permitted. Pacers are permitted. Pets are not permitted for safety. Trail shoes are highly recommended. Some uphill climbs can get muddy. Cyclists and hikers may also be on the trails and there is plenty of single track. Be kind and share the trails! Runners must stay on the park trails\, even if it gets muddy! Do not make your own trails around mud. Always Leave No Trace. Alcohol is prohibited. DESCRIPTION:Hike by the light of a full moon at Cass on May 14\, 2022. \nThe “Flower Moon” hike at Cass Scenic Railroad begins from the visitors center (to the left of the Company Store facing the store) at 7:30 p.m. The evening walk is about three miles round trip with a slight grade\, but mostly flat walking. Please wear sturdy winter footwear and clothing. Hike will be led by Park Superintendent Marshall Markley. The hike is open to the public and fee free. \nMay’s full Moon name is known as the Flower Moon according to The Old Farmer’s Almanac Traditionally called the Pink Moon it is also called Corn Planting Moon and the Milk Moon. \nAlso\, if staying at Cass Scenic Railroad the Sunday night\, May 16\, 2022 there is a total lunar eclipse that will be visible across North and South America\, Europe and Africa. Registration begins at 9:00 a.m. and fishing begins at 10:00 a.m. The Upper Reservoir at Cacapon Resort State Park is the location. “There will be awards for most fish caught\, weight and length” according to Derby Organizer\, Valerie Chaney\, Park Naturalist. The age categories are ages 6 and younger\, 7-9\, 10-12\, and 13-14. Winners of the age categories win Zebco fishing poles purchased by and compliments of the Cacapon Resort State Park Foundation and recognized by the local newspaper. Berkeley Springs High School Fishing Team and the WV Division of Natural Resource Police assist. Derby guidelines are discussed prior to the event start time. \nChaney is an avid outdoors woman and a certified guide (NAI/CIG). DESCRIPTION:“Blennerhassett Estate Gardens and Grounds” program is an outdoor tour. Besides its beautiful island Mansion\, what was the Blennerhassett Estate really like? During this program of the grounds\, participants will learn what gardens and other period buildings existed as a part of the Blennerhassett Estate in 1806 based on historical findings. This unique program begins at 12:45 p.m. on Saturday\, May 21\, 2022 on Blennerhassett Island. \nThis program begins with a first-person presentation by “Mr. Peter Taylor\,” the Blennerhassett English gardener. The Estate’s Pleasure Garden was 2-1/2 acres in size. What did it include? Details and features of this Pleasure Garden as well as the Kitchen Garden and the Orchard will be shared. \nA program handout along with garden renderings is part of the experience. There is a fee to attend this one-hour program of $5.00 for adults. It is a rain or shine event. Mansion porches/picnic shelter will be used if it rains. The Chief Logan Wildlife Center is not located at the lodge. It is approximately one mile from the Museum-in-the-Park / Gift Shop / park offices. \nAdmission tickets may be purchased at the Museum/Gift Shop\, Chief Logan Lodge\, and the Campground Store using debit/credit card\, check or cash. Admission tickets purchased at the center are cash only. Admission to the Wildlife Center is Adults $2 and youth $1. Hours of operation on May 28 and 29\, 2022 is Noon until 6:00 p.m.

Nationally known artists exhibit at this event\, and the best part is artisans are local residents. Shows are rain or shine from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. across the street from the Farmers Market.
