SUMMARY:39th Annual Sue Browning Wildflower Hike
DESCRIPTION:Spring hikes to observe wildflowers of Chief Logan State Park continues with the 39th year of hikes offered known as the Sun Browning Wildflower hikes. Lead by Lauren Cole and volunteers\, two hikes are planned. \nThe 9:00 a.m. hike will be on the Woodpecker Trail with a distance of three miles. This trail is modertate to strenous but the energy to hike this trail is rewarded with spring beauty. \nThe 1:00 p.m. Hike will be on the Fitness and Shawnee trails. This hike is about two miles but easy and recommended for any age. With a one gentle uphill area\, often spring wildflowers surprise hikers in unusual locations. The hikes are free to attend. Plan on being at the Museum in the Park at least 15 minutes prior to the hike start. DESCRIPTION:For more than 17 years\, Beech Fork State Park has featured a spring clean-up in April. The Annual Make It Shine Day is scheduled for April 2\, 2022 beginning at 8:00 a.m. A full day of volunteer service that includes lunch and concludes at 4:00p.m. Event will be held rain or shine. Please wear boots and work clothes. Those with questions about the event may call Assistant Superintendent\, Dave Pruitt at 304-528-5794 or email david.e.pruitt@wv.gov \nVolunteers that pre-registering to participate receive free camping for Friday\, April 1\, 2022 and Saturday\, April 2\, 2022. “For families that cannot camp with us on Make It Shine Day\, a free camping certificate for two nights will be given to the group or family at the end of the clean-up day (1 per family). All participants must pre-register for a campsite to be included in the free camping weekend. This is the 12th year we have offered free camping for volunteers that preregister for the public service event. Spring camping has some of the best weather and cleanup events often introduce volunteers to consider earlier camping. \nAll ages\, families and individuals work together for the betterment of Beech Fork State Park. Past cleanup days have proven to make this event not only productive\, but enjoyable for all participants. We are very appreciative for the support shown by state park patrons in this event and looking forward to the 2022 cleanup. \nWV Make It Shine Statewide Cleanup is a collaborative program by the Department of Environmental Protection and the Division of Highways that teams with organizations or other agencies for spring cleaning.
