The nature center is open Thursday – Sunday from Noon until 5:00 p.m. \nNaturalist Julie McQuade\, NAI/CIG invites you to these activities: \nThursday\, January 27\, 2022\n4:00 pm\nNature Center Open House \nFriday\, January 28\, 2022\n4:00 pm\nWildlife of North America Game\nIt’s a quiz game about North American wildlife. Join the fun and see if you know your wildlife. \nSaturday\, January 29\, 2022\n11:00 am\nMammals of Pipestem\nLet’s learn about seven different mammals you may encounter at Pipestem and see their pelts. \n12:00 pm\nBird Count\nStop by the Nature Center to observe and count the birds at the feeders. We count the highest number of each species seen at a time. Data collected will be submitted to Project FeederWatch for the Cornell Lab of Ornithology. This is an excellent opportunity to learn winter birds and begin or add to your life list of birds. \n2:00 pm\nNature Hunt\nGet that list of objects from the naturalist and get outside to look for them. DESCRIPTION:In addition to booking sled riding session at Blackwater Falls\, enjoy these planned activities on January 22\, 2022. \nSaturday\, January 22\, 2022\n10:30 a.m.\nBeginners Intro to Cross Country Skiing.\nJoin park naturalist Madelene at Pendleton Point Picnic Shelter for this program to practice a beginners ski along some park trails. This program will be converted to an interpretive hike if trail conditions are not favorable for cross country skiing. Ski rentals available at sled run or bring your own. 1-2 hours. 1-2 miles. YPP It’s free. It’s fun. It is helpful to learn how in a relaxed setting. \n1:00 p.m.\nWinter Weeds & More Walk\nJoin the park naturalist to stroll along a section of Pendleton Lake looking for winter weeds and anything else that appears interesting.
