SUMMARY:National Trails Day — Bluestone State Park
DESCRIPTION:Celebrate National Trails Day at Bluestone State Park with two separate hikes! The first hike is on the River View Trail. This is a moderate 2.5-mile hike that starts at the park office. Hikers should meet at the office no later than 8:45am. Be sure to wear long pants and sturdy shoes\, and bring water and snacks. \n\n\n\nThe second hike is on the Cabin Trail and the Giles\, Fayette\, Kanawha Turnpike Trail. This is a moderate to challenging 3.5-mile hike along a historic path once followed by Booker T. Washington\, Mary Ingles and President Rutherford B. Hayes. Hikers should meet at the Event Building no later than 11:45am. Be sure to wear long pants and sturdy shoes\, and bring water and snacks. \n\n\n\nBoth hikes will be guided by seasonal naturalist Jonathan Lipscomb. This will be a moderately difficult hike that takes approximately 2 1/2 hours and covers about 3.8 miles! SUMMARY:National Trails Day — Blackwater Falls State Park
DESCRIPTION:On National Trails Day\, take a hardwood hike at Blackwater Falls State Park. This 1.5-mile moderate difficulty hike will traverse a mixed northern hardwood forest. Short interpretive stops will be made along the way. Hikers should meet at the Sled Run parking area no later than 9:45 am. Be sure to wear sturdy shoes and dress for the weather. DESCRIPTION:On June 6\, walk the Mountaineer Mile Trail at Tu Endie Wei State Park. The guided and interpretative walk begins at 11:00 am\, and all walkers should meet at the Riverfront Trail trailhead. The park superintendent will lead the hike and\, along the way\, discuss the history of Point Pleasant\, including the Battle and prominent historical figures from the city’s colorful past.
