SUMMARY:Green Day Hike: Cacapon Resort State Park
DESCRIPTION:Cacapon Resort State Park is hosting the annual Green Day Hike on Saturday\, March 21. This hike celebrates the return of spring as the mountains return to green. This naturalist-guided hike will begin at the nature center\, and all participants will earn an incentive. \n\n\n\nThe Hovermale Homestead Trail is rated easy with a 1.2-mile loop. We will begin at the nature center and stroll on this wooded trail. We will walk past fungi\, moss\, and the possible beginning of spring flowers such as Rue Anemone and Trailing Arbutus. Rock formations\, old road tracks\, vernal pools and flowing streams will meet us along the way. Spring is budding\, and so are the trees! Sounds of woodpeckers and the call of the Spring Peeper tree frog may be heard. Dogs on leash are welcome.

SUMMARY:Green Day Hike – Watoga State Park
DESCRIPTION:Meet at the Activities Building/Nature Center. We will be on the lookout for the first signs of spring as we hike a 5-mile loop on the Bearpen\, North Boundary\, and Buck & Doe Trails. Along the hike\, we will see the remains of a Civilian Conservation Corps quarry and visit the site of the 1926 Watoga State Forest Fire Tower. Please wear sturdy hiking shoes\, and a walking stick is recommended. Make sure you bring a snack and something to drink. Participants will receive a Green Day Patch.

DESCRIPTION:It’s that time of year again\, when the eagles are becoming more active along the New River and Bluestone Lake! Join the Pipestem Resort State Park Naturalist during March for eagle caravans to the nearby Bluestone Lake. The Southern WV Eagle Brigade is a growing group of eagle observers who have monitored eagle nests\, breeding\, and fledging in the Pipestem/New River area and have documented their findings since 2006. Join us as we survey the sky for eagles. Numerous sites are designated and hosted by a member of the Eagle Brigade. You do not have to be an expert to spot raptors – an eagle brigade host will be there to help. DESCRIPTION:Join Chef Matt Welsch\, the Executive Chef for West Virginia State Parks\, as well as the highly talented culinary teams of our beautiful state parks\, while they curate unforgettable and unique dinners by integrating locally sourced items found in Appalachian pantries into culinary masterpieces. \n\n\n\nNorth Bend State Park will host this dinner event in the pastoral setting of the North Bend Restaurant located in the Lodge. The price is $60 per person plus tax and gratuities. The menu includes welcome bites of hot buttermilk cornbread and maple honey butter\, followed by a first course of an early spring greens salad featuring blueberries\, toasted sunflower seeds\, and a warm maple vinaigrette.
