SUMMARY:Christmas at Cass: Train Journey
DESCRIPTION:Enjoy a ride on the Cass Scenic Railroad this holiday season from December 1 – 17\, 2023 as part of Christmas at Cass festivities. The steam powered journey departs the Cass Depot and travels along the scenic Greenbrier River. This excursion will last approximately 75 – 90 minutes and features decorated and heated coaches. Limited seating is available inside the historic Chesapeake & Ohio caboose at the rear of the train. \nYou’ll find departure times\, days\, guidelines\, seating notes\, and a calendar for train rides on the Mountain Rail website. SUMMARY:Christmas Foods & Celebrations: Blennerhassett
DESCRIPTION:“Christmas Foods & Celebrations” is a special holiday program on Sunday\, December 10\, 2023 at the Blennerhassett Museum. The museum is located in Parkersburg on the corner of 137 Juliana Street and 2nd Street \nThis illustrated history talk is about “Christmas Foods & Celebrations at Blennerhassett Mansion”.  The program begins at 2:00 p.m. at the museum. \nLearn more about the festive activities and foods during the Twelve Days of Christmas celebrations in the early 1800s.  Blennerhassett Volunteer Educators – Richard and Martha Hartley\, as food historians and authors of two early WV foodways books\, will share what Christmas was and was not like in the Mid-Ohio Valley at this time period.   \nScott Cain will play instrumental Christmas music prior to the start of the program.  Light refreshments will be provided after the history talk.  The cost is $5.00 per person and advanced reservation is welcomed.
