SUMMARY:Quilter’s Getaway: North Bend
DESCRIPTION:The annual QUILTER’S GETAWAY is happening at North Bend State Park October 22-26\, 2023. Classes are coordinated and taught by Karen Harris.  The getaway activities are conducted in the Hughes and Douglas Conference Rooms and open from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Setup begins at 2:00 p.m. on October 22\, 2023. October 23-26 and from 8:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on October 27\, 2023.   \nPreregistration is required. To enroll in the Quilter’s Getaway\, North Bend State Park will need your contact information that includes your name and mailing address\, phone number to contact\, email address\, and that you want to participate in the Quilter’s Getaway.  If you are staying overnight and sharing a room\, the name of your roommate is necessary.   Call North Bend at 304-643-2931 or email NorthBendSP@wv.gov to register or to receive a registration form and to reserve your room. \nOvernight packages staying at North Bend Lodge are 1 person\, 5 nights lodging\, and activities\, $439.95; 2 people sharing a room\, 5 nights lodging\, and activities\, $499.95.  Packages for room sharing or three or four participants are also available. To participate in the activity only  (no lodging) is $60. A drink station with coffee\, tea and water is provided. \nRemember booking the overnight room package does not reserve your seat for the Quilter’s Getaway happening October 22 – 27\, 2023. SUMMARY:Halloween Time Fun: Cass Scenic Railroad
DESCRIPTION:Cass Scenic Railroad State Park is all about family fun around the Halloween weekend.Enjoy family-fun with these activities on Friday\, October 27\, 2023. \nA Costume ContestFrom 5:00 – 5:30 p.m. it is all about the costume and attire for little ones and adults!Judges will be looking for the best superhero\, the cutest\, the scariest\, and the funniest.The age groups are: up to 3 years old; ages 4-6\, ages 9-12\, ages 12-15 and ages 15 to adult.Yes\, any age is encouraged to wear a costume and participate. \nTrick or TreatBeginning at 5:30 p.m. ( or maybe a little later\, pending the costume contest conclusion) is trick-or-treat time from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. Open to all ages preferably in a costume. We’ll start at the Cass Company Store\, Shay Restaurant\, and then on to Main Street Company Houses. DESCRIPTION:Skulls and Bones! What better activity did you expect on a Halloween weekend at North Bend State Park. \nMeet park naturalist Sarah Clark at North Bend State Park nature center. She’ll introduce you to her skulls and bones program. Rumor has it you’ll learn about wildlife at North Bend and maybe it’s more about nature than really scary stuff. After the program\, there’ll be a Halloween craft following. This evening program is free to attend.
