DESCRIPTION:Enjoy friends and family activities at Pipestem Resort State Park September 29 – October 1\, 2023. \nFRIDAY\, September 29\, 2023 \n10:30 am- Pipestem Heritage *YPPMeet at the Nature Center for an in depth tour of our heritage structures and to see pictures from the past taken in our own park of families and life before Pipestem. \n7:00 – 9:00 pm – Live Music!Featuring Corey Lee McQuadeOutside of the Black Bear Lounge @ Pipestem Resort State ParkCorey Lee McQuade\, the other flatpicking dobro man\, carries on the dobro style of Tut Taylor flatpicking the resophonic guitar aka dobro. He is a singer/songwriter from Lewisburg\, WV and currently residing in Athens\, WV. His solo performances include fingerpicking and flatpicking guitar\, flatpicking dobro\, and clawhammer banjo. His original songs are inspired by old time traditional music\, local history\, and folk singer/songwriters. \nSATURDAY\, September 30\, 2023 \n2:00 pm- Nature Hunt *YPPMeet at the Nature Center. Get your hands on a list of objects to look for in Nature. Once youfind them\, you receive a prize! Nature Hunt is fun! (30 minutes) \n5:00 pm- Wildlife Game *YPPMeet at the Nature Center for a quiz game about North American wildlife. Fun and it’s for everyone to enjoy. (30 min) \nSUNDAY\, October 1\, 2023 \n8:30 am- Church ServiceMeet us at the Amphitheater for Sunday service. \n5:00 pm- An Extraordinary Ordinary MothMeet in the Activity Shelter behind the Nature Center to hear a storybook story about a moth. Then color a picture of a moth any color you want. A great activity for kids or adults who love moths. YPP \nYoung People for ParksYPP is an environmental education program for children ages 6-16. To complete the program\, participants attend three specified activities during their stay. These programs are indicated by *YPP. Songbooks available for campfire singing after the history talk. About 1 hour. YPP \n1:00 p.m. Decoupage Mason Jar CandleMake your own fall decorative jar or Blackwater Falls Souvenir. About 1 hour. craft fee $3.00 \n2:00 p.m. Feature MovieJoin the staff for this hilarious film about witches attempting to reclaim their youth. Rated PG. About 2 hours. \n5:00 p.m. Ramblin’ Ranger– Creature FeatureFind the park naturalist in the lodge lobby for her display about the eastern coyote. Test your knowledge about coyotes\, ask a question\, pick up a trail map or simply stop to say hello. The naturalist will be set up for about 2 hours. YPP \nSATURDAY\, September 30\, 2023Nature Center Hours: 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. \n9:00 a.m. Morning along the LakeJoin the park naturalist for an interpretive stroll along Pendleton Lake. What birds are around the lake? What plants are blooming? About 1/2 mile\, about one hour. YPP \n10:00 a.m. Scenic Overlook Nature StrollJoin the seasonal naturalist at Pendleton Point Salt Sands Sign for an easy interpretive stroll around the overlook. About 1 hour. YPP \n10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Twisted Tie DyeJoin the staff to be creative on your own souvenir t-shirt. Supplies lim ited. Sale price: $5.00 adult\, $3.00 youth sizes. \n11:30 a.m. Fossil CraftJoin the recreation assistant to hear about some fossils. In order to study the history of life on earth\, paleontologists study fossil remains of the organisms that once lived here. Optional: This Fossil Find Activity invites participants to become paleontologists by finding and gently removing the sediment to expose real trilobite replicas or make their own fossil. This activity requires patience and time to uncover trilobites or create a fossil craft. Craft fee: $2.00 YPP \n1:00 p.m. Bracelet CraftJoin the recreation attendant and create a bracelet. Choose from a fish hook to friendship to paracord to your passion to save the bees designs. Craft fee varies: $1.00 to $4.00 \n2:00 p.m. Naturalist LoopJoin the seasonal naturalist at the trailhead of Davis Trail for a walk along a portion of three trails: Davis\, Spudder Track and Red Spruce. About 2 hours\, 2 miles. YPP \n2:30p.m. SSSSNakes of West VirginiaJoin the park naturalist to hear about some snakes that call West Virginia home and why they should be your friend. Program may include a live non-venomous snake. About 1 hour. YPP \nSUNDAY\, October 1\, 2023Nature Center Hours: 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. \n10:30 a.m. Finding Your WayJoin the naturalist for this program about how to use a map and compass with a short video and naturalist interpretation. Includes testing your skills on a short course around the nature center\, learning about topographic maps\, contour lines and more. About one hour.
