(30min) \n5:00 pm- What Should I Bring? *YPPMeet in the Activity Shelter behind the Nature Center for a talk about what you should take with you when you explore the great outdoors. (30 minutes) \nTUESDAY\, September 5\, 2023 \n10:00 am- Barney Law Orchard WalkJoin us at the Nature Center for a nearby walk to the homesite and orchard of former park resident\, Barney Law. \n2:00 pm- Turtle Game *YPPMeet in the front yard of the Nature Center to learn about turtles while we play an outdoor game. (self paced) \nWEDNESDAY\, September 6\, 2023 \n5:00 pm- Bird Bingo *YPPCome by the Activity Shelter at the Nature Center for a few rounds of Bird Bingo and learn some interesting bird facts. (45 minutes) \nTHURSDAY\, September 7\, 2023 \n10:30 am- It’s For the Birds *YPPMeet staff inside the Nature Center for a conversation on our bird feeding space\, birdingapps commonly used\, and common bird feeder birds. Enjoy the center or stick close to our bird watching area for some relaxing birding. Birds viewed during this activity will be submitted to ebird.org as a citizen science opportunity. (30min) \n5:00 pm- An Extraordinary Ordinary MothMeet in the Activity Shelter behind the Nature Center to hear a storybook story about a moth. Then color a picture of a moth any color you want. A great activity for kids or adults who love moths. YPP \nFRIDAY\, September 8\, 2023 \n5:00 pm- Wildlife Game *YPPMeet at the Nature Center for a quiz game about North American wildlife. (30 min) \nLive Music!7:00 – 9:00pmFeaturing Corey Lee McQuade outside of the Black Bear Lounge @ Pipestem Resort State Park \nCorey Lee McQuade\, the other flatpicking dobro man\, carries on the dobro style of Tut Taylor flatpicking the resophonic guitar aka dobro. He is a singer/songwriter from Lewisburg\, WV and currently residing in Athens\, WV. His solo performances include fingerpicking and flatpicking guitar\, flatpicking dobro\, and clawhammer banjo. His original songs are inspired by old time traditional music\, local history\, and folk singers/songwriters. \n7:30 pm- Campfire Time! *YPPMeet at the fire ring behind the Campground store to learn how to make char cloth\, a fire-starting assistance\, and make fire using this primitive fire starter. We will also roast some marshmallows. Bring a camping chair if you have one. (1 hour) \nSATURDAY\, September 9\, 2023 \n1:00 pm- Pipestem Heritage *YPPMeet at the Nature Center for an in depth tour of our heritage structures and to see pictures from the past taken in our own park. \n3:00 pm- Nature Hunt *YPPMeet at the Nature Center. We will hand out a list of objects to look for in Nature. Onceyou find them\, you receive a prize! (30 minutes) \n6:00 pm- Beginner Archery *YPPMeet at the Campground store to practice your archery skills. (1 hour) \nYoung People for ParksYPP is an environmental education program for children ages 6-16. To complete the program\, participants attend three specified activities during their stay. These programs are indicated by *YPP. DESCRIPTION:The 2023 Farm-to-Table dinner at Tygart Lake State Park is Saturday\, September 9. This event is held at The Lodge restaurant and features locally sourced produce and products. With views of Tygart Lake\, this is a lovely evening event.  \nThe Lodge restaurant brings a new flavor to this year’s Farm-to-Table with plated choices.  A Ginger Carrot and Butternut Squash Bisque is a starter course\, however\, diners can opt for the main meal choices\, there are three.  Bourbon Molasses Marinated Flank Steak with Rosemary Roasted Baby Potatoes and Carrots in a WV Honey Glaze; Seared Lamb Lollipops drizzled with a Rhubarb Sauce and Mashed Potatoes with Roasted Parsnips; or Maple spinach Bacon Salad with Candied Cajun Bacon\, Grape Tomatoes\, Goat Cheese\, Red Onions\, Pecans\, and a house-made Maple Vinaigrette. Visit the nature center Saturday\, September 9\, 2023 to see the exhibits\, learn about tree history\, and more. \nSATURDAY\, September 9\, 2023 \n10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. NATURE CENTER IS OPEN \n10:30 a.m. HISTORY IN RINGS & TREE COOKIE CRAFTKenny helps you explore and examine the stump of an Eastern Hemlock from Cathedral State Park. You’ll investigate the rings of the tree\, discuss the history of the area\, and ponder on what stories this particular tree could tell during its lifespan. About 30 minutes. Find this activity at the nature center. \nOptional: Use colorful markers\, paint or wood burning tools to create a tree cookie ornament.This is a nice souvenir to remember your visit. Craft: $2.00. Pendleton Point Overlook Parking Lot \nRoaming the park during quiet hours when the park is closed (10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.) is discouraged. But stargazing is possible with the permit at the two designated locations that are super areas with very dark skies. \nThe permit lets park security know you’ve registered. SUMMARY:Elk Management Tour - Morning: Chief Logan
DESCRIPTION:Elk Management Tours in West Virginia are designed to learn about and visit where the reintroduction of elk in the Mountain State has occurred. The three-to-four-hour activity begins at 5:30 a.m. at Chief Logan Lodge\, Saturday\, September 9\, 2023. The tour ticket includes a light breakfast\, “All about Elk” conversation\, transportation to the elk translocation site\, and outdoor time to experience the terrain\, vegetation\, elk habitat and potential sightings and a souvenir. Tours are limited to 12 participants and reservations are required in advance. Masks may be necessary during transportation. \nHearing or seeing an elk bull or cow is not guaranteed. The elk are free roaming and not penned. Sunrise at the tour site is outstanding in addition to looking and listening for elk and observing other wildlife or wildlife signs in the area. Walking/hiking is involved. \nThese considerations are necessary: carry-on items must be small to accommodate passengers more comfortably and only if necessary. The tour is not recommended for youth under age 12. Pets are not permitted. Participants should refrain from use of scented products. Packing food on the tour is discouraged – wild animals have excellent sensory abilities and may react adversely. Sturdy\, closed-toe shoes or boots are required\, no flip-flops or sandals. Long pants should be worn. Up to two miles of walking may occur at the management area with some moderate inclines\, but all at a reasonable pace. Binoculars are available to borrow. \nThe cost is $34 per person. Ticket or package prices include taxes\, but not gratuity. SUMMARY:Yoga - We Are Soul not Body: Cacapon
DESCRIPTION:Bhakti yoga goes back to its spiritual roots and ends with a symphony of sound.  “We are soul not body” is a journey together at Cacapon Resort State Park by raising the vibration and entering on a path of self-realization with instructor Rebecca Martz.  \nThis experience happens Saturday\, September 9\, 2023 from 2:00-5:00 p.m. in the Rumsey Room at Cacapon Lodge. Participants are asked to bring a yoga mat or blanket. Pre Registration is required due to space limitations. Please email Rebecca Martz at  becca.martz18@gmail.com to register.  \nThe afternoon features optional Reiki healing\, Ancient Yoga Philosophy\, Meditation\, and sound healing including singing bowls and a gong bath.
