DESCRIPTION:The Nature Center at Pipestem is open daily 11:00 am – 5:00 pm. There’s plenty to see at the nature hub OR if you’re looking for some things to do or to attend like ultimate frisbee\, moth night\, hikes and live music\, July 31 – August 6\, 2023\, we welcome your attendance. \nMonday\, July 31\, 2023 \n10:00 am-Wildlife Game *YPPMeet at the Nature Center for a quiz game about North American wildlife. \n11:00 am- Lake Dip *YPPMeet at the pedestrian bridge near McKeever Lodge for a walk to Long Branch Lake. Who knows what critters we might catch! \n2:00 pm- Ultimate FrisbeeMeet at the Campground Store to learn how to play Ultimate Frisbee. Ultimate Frisbee is a teamsport which mixes elements of football\, basketball\, and rugby\, substituting the ball with a flying discand the referee with the spirit of the game. (1hour) \nTuesday\, August 1\, 2023 \n10:00 am- Taxidermy Talk *YPPCome by the Nature Center to learn about some of West Virginia’s native wildlife\, see our taxidermycollection\, and touch authentic animal pelts. \n1:00 pm Creepy Crawly Bug Craft *YPPJoin staff at the Activity Shelter behind the Nature Center for a craft showcasing the various insects crawling and flying around outside. (40 minutes) \n3:00 pm- Turtle Game *YPPMeet in the front yard of the Nature Center to learn about turtles while we play an outdoor game. \n5:00 pm- Firefly Friends *YPPEnjoy the magic of fireflies by creating this cute craft\, which will leave you with a firefly friend without taking the real thing out of nature. Join us as we show how\, with just a few standard craft items you can have a firefly friend year round. \nWednesday\, August 2\, 2023 \n10:00 am- Deer Talk Time *YPPJoin us at the activities shelter behind the Nature Center to learn about deer. We will talk about the different signs and behaviors of adult white-tailed deer and give participants a chance to touch a deer pelt. Additionally\, we will discuss what to do if you come across a fawn in the wild. \n1:00 pm- Plaster Tracks *YPPMeet in the Activity Shelter behind the Nature Center to make a plaster animal track.Drying times may vary due to weather conditions\, so please allow a minimum of 30 minutes for your track to dry and be ready to take home. \n4:00 pm- Shaving Cream PaintingMeet at the Activity Shelter behind the Nature Center to create a fun painted craft to take home. This craft is fun for kids and kids at heart. Make sure to wear your “play” clothes as the craft can get messy. (30 min) \n9:15 pm- Moth Night *YPPMeet at the Nature Center for some moth watching. There will be a black light and white sheet set up to attract the moths. Bring a flashlight and a chair if you like and don’t forget your camera to capture your moth moments. In the event of rain the program may be canceled. YPP \nThursday\, August 3\, 2023 \n10:00 am- North Side Trail: *YPPMeet us at the shelter beside Park headquarters for a hike along the North Side Trail. \n1:00 pm- Hummingbirds: Magic in the Air *YPPMeet at the Activity Shelter behind the Nature Center to learn some interesting facts about our favorite little feathered friends. \n4:30 pm- Pond Walk *YPPJoin us at the Activity Shelter behind the Nature Center following the for a short walk to the pond to see what amphibians and other critters call the pond home. \n8:00pm- Go Batty for Bats *YPPCute or creepy\, bats are an important part of our environment. Join us at the Activity Shelter behind the Nature Center to learn about some of WV’s native bat species and ways that they support our ecosystem. \nFriday\, August 4\, 2023 \n4:00 pm- What Should I Bring? *YPPMeet in the Activity Shelter behind the Nature Center for a talk about what you should take with you when you explore the great outdoors. (40 minutes) \n6:00 pm- Beginner Archery *YPPMeet at the Campground store to practice your archery skills. (1 hour) \n7:30 pm- Campfire Time! *YPPFind us at the fire ring behind the Campground store to learn how to make char cloth\, a fire-starting assistance\, and make fire using this primitive fire starter. No matches involved. We will also roast some marshmallows. Bring a camping chair if you have one. (1 hour) \n7:00 – 9:00 pm – Live Music!Corey Lee McQuadeOutside of the Black Bear Lounge @ Pipestem Resort State Park. Appalachian/Americana folk-style bluegrass\, country\, blues\, and more\, all in one. \nNATURE FACT: 80% of snake bite victims get bitten while pestering the snake. Leave them alone. \nSaturday\, August 5\, 2023 \n11:00 am- Nature Hunt *YPPMeet at the Nature Center. We will hand out a list of objects to look for in Nature. Once you find them\, you receive a prize! (30 minutes) \n2:00 pm- Ultimate FrisbeeMeet at the Campground Store to learn how to play Ultimate Frisbee. (30 minutes) \n5:00 pm- Bird Bingo *YPPCome by the Activity Shelter at the Nature Center for a few rounds of Bird Bingo and learn someinteresting bird facts. (45 minutes) \nYoung People for ParksYPP is an environmental education program for children ages 6-16. To complete the program\, participants attend three specified activities during their stay. SUMMARY:Art-in-the-Park: Berkeley Springs
DESCRIPTION:The 16th annual Art-in-the-Park series is a juried art fair that provides public access to fine artisans located in the Berkeley Springs region of West Virginia. Nationally known artists exhibit at this event\, and the best part is artisans are local residents. \n\n\n\nShows are rain or shine from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and located across the street from the Farmers Market. Art-in-the-Park is free to attend and open to the public.
