DESCRIPTION:Pipestem sits on the east rim of the Bluestone River Gorge\, which carves through the plateau to the scenic Bluestone River 1\,200 feet below. Enjoy these activities when you visit July 10 – 13\, 2023. The Nature Center is open Wednesday – Sunday 11:00 am – 5:00 pm. Visit our exhibits and heritage structures and sit a spell in West Virginia made rocking chairs and watch the birds. \nMONDAY\, July 10\, 2023 \n10:00 amBarney Law Orchard Walk- Meet Bob at the Nature Center for a short hike to the homesite and orchard of former park resident\, Barney Law. YPP \n1:00 pmNature Center Open House- Stop by the Nature Center to meet Bob and have a tour of our Nature Center and Historic Structures. YPP \n2:00 pmLake Dip- Meet Bryce at the pedestrian bridge near McKeever to walk to a nearby lake to see what critters we might catch. YPP \n4:00 pmUltimate Frisbee- Meet Bryce at the Campground store to learn how to play Ultimate Frisbee. \nTUESDAY\, July 11\, 2023 \n9:30 amKickstart your Day with Bob at the Nature Center-Meet Bob at the Nature Center to walk along the pollinator zone while getting your steps in for the day while doing some simple exercises. After the warm-up\, join Bob as he guides you along the Dogwood Trail. \n11:00 amTurtle Talk- Meet Kristen at the activities shelter behind the Nature Center to learn about turtles and what you can do to help them in the wild. Great for ages young and old. YPP \n2:00 pmAn Extraordinary Ordinary Moth- Meet Kristen in the Activity Shelter behind the Nature Center to hear a storybook story about a moth. Then color a picture of a moth any color youwant. A great activity for kids or adults who love moths. YPP \n4:00 pmGo Batty for Bats- Cute or creepy\, bats are an important part of our environment. Join Kristen at the Activity Shelter behind the Nature Center to learn about some of WV’s native bat species and ways that they support our ecosystem. YPP \nWEDNESDAY\, July 12\, 2023 \n10:00 amDeer Talk Time- Join Kristen at the activities shelter behind the nature center to learn about deer. We will talk about the different signs and behaviors of adult white-tailed deer and give participants a chance to touch a deer pelt. Additionally\, Kristen will discuss what to do if you come across a fawn. YPP \n3:00 pmPlaster Tracks- Meet Kristen in the Activity Shelter behind the Nature Center to make a plaster track to take home. Drying times may vary due to weather conditions\, but please allow for a minimum of 30 minutes. YPP \n5:00 pmWildlife of North America Game- Meet Julie at the Nature Center for a quiz game about North American wildlife.
