Wooden spoons? Yes!! *ypp \n5pm primitive fire startingWe’ll be at the shelter behind the events building before the weekly campfire to learn about how to start a fire without a lighter or match. Does this mean char cloth\, flint and steel? Yes!! *ypp \n7-9pm weekly campfireStill hanging out at the shelter behind the events building for our weekly campfire\, come to relax\, talk\, sing\, and learn about the local area. Meet at the overlook on the park entrance road to take a hike up the Eagle Point trail. This 1 mile each way trail is the newest on the park and ascends to a beautiful overlook above Rt 20. Long pants\, closed toed shoes\, and water are recommended. Its a little difficult at first\, but the view is wonderful \n1pm compass treasure huntMeet at the swimming pool to learn the basic operations of a compass and compete for a prize. A compass! Not an electronic device. Old school fun. *ypp \n3pm riverview trail clean upJoin me at the pool to take a conservation hike along the lower sections of the riverview trail and help clean up the debris from our last high water event. We’ll talk about the effects of rain at the park and maybe see some wildlife as we work to keep Bluestone State Park tidy. \n6pm tye dyeIt’s tye dye time again this weekend in case you missed it on Saturday.. SUMMARY:Wings of Wonder-Birds of Prey: on the Island
DESCRIPTION:What a great afternoon program featured on Blennerhassett Island\, Three Rivers Avian Center (TRAC) is live at Blennerhassett Island Historical State Park on Saturday July 9\, 2023 at 1:30p.m. The educational birds are a great opportunity to learn what birds say “who cooks for me\, who cooks for you all?” as well as meeting other raptors. \nThis nature program is all about raptors native to West Virginia: hawks\, eagles\, falcons\, and owls. You’ll learn about the habitat\, diet and behavior of each bird presented\, the most common causes of injury to each species and the laws protecting these special birds. This program is scheduled at several state parks in 2023. \nThere is no fee to attend. Open to the public\, the program lasts about an hour and is staged on the lawn area on the island. Park staff can direct visitors to the areas. Questions are welcomed. This is a family friendly event. An excellent presentation for all ages. Join us on the island for Three Rivers Avian Center and to meet the birds of prey.
