SUMMARY:Nature Ranger Day Camp: Twin Falls
DESCRIPTION:Twelve youth ages 9 – 12 will become Nature Rangers by attending Nature Ranger Day Camp April 10-12\, 2023 at Twin Falls State Park. It can only be described as a blend of wildlife identification\, survival skills and nature crafting and appreciation. \nPreregistration is required and there is a program fee of $99 to cover lunches\, supplies provided\, and materials used for the three days of outdoor activities and discovery. Camp hours are 10:00AM – 5:00PM with extra two activities\, one in early morning Wednesday and one mid-evening on Monday. \nDay one includes a meet and greet\, tracking and track identification\, bats and moths their importance and understanding of echolocation\, and a survival skill set\, with the option of a black light hike in the evening. \nDay two is a primitive bush craft day that includes sling shots and sportsmanship\, primitive shelter building\, and primitive fire building using different methods of fire starting. \nDay three has a very early morning option called ‘speak the language’ and about understanding the wild turkey habits\, sounds and their habitats. A turkey call craft\, chair construction using only cord and sticks\, and completion certificate and pin concludes the day camp. \nLunch is provided each day. Activities are primarily outside. Spring frogs or toads? Pea-pea-deep. \n1:00PM\nDiscovery Hike\nLet’s discover what trees and wildflowers are starting to bloom! Each day spring flowers greet us with new shoots and blooms. \nWhen visiting Cacapon Resort State Park\, visit the Tom Ambrose Nature Center! The nature center is a great stop for all ages\, showcasing exhibits on the park history and the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) Camp Morgan 1934-41. Other West Virginia natural exhibits include an extensive taxidermy collection of wildlife- fish\, birds\, fox\, bobcat\, mountain lion\, deer\, elk\, and eastern grey wolf! Also\, hands-on sand displays for wildlife tracks and a new geology interactive map to design your own mountains\, rivers and lakes.
