Along the trail you will have an opportunity to view the first cascade of Elakala and a little more about the falls and some facts about nature along the walk. About one hour. One mile. YPP \n11:00 a.m.\nMason Jar Craft\nJoin the staff for this easy craft. Use a couple Thanksgiving Blessing or Nativity Scene decals on a gold or silver crackled mason jar. SUMMARY:Elk Management Tour Morning: Chief Logan
DESCRIPTION:Elk Management Tours in West Virginia are designed to learn about and visit where the reintroduction of elk in the Mountain State has occurred.. The three-to-four-hour activity begins at 5:30 a.m. at Chief Logan Lodge\, Saturday\, October 1\, 2022. The tour ticket includes a light breakfast\, “All About Elk” conversation\, transportation to the elk translocation site\, and outdoor time to experience the terrain\, vegetation\, elk habitat and potential sightings and a souvenir. Tours are limited to 12 participants and reservations are required in advance. Masks may be necessary during transportation. \nHearing or seeing an elk bull or cow is not guaranteed. The elk are free roaming and not penned. Sunrise at the tour site is outstanding in addition to looking and listening for elk and observing other wildlife or wildlife signs in the area. Walking/hiking is involved. \nThese considerations are necessary: carry-on items must be small to accommodate passengers more comfortably and only if necessary. The tour is not recommended for youth under age 12. Pets are not permitted. Participants should refrain from use of scented products. Packing food on the tour is discouraged – wild animals have excellent sensory abilities and may react adversely. Sturdy\, closed-toe shoes or boots are required\, no flip-flops or sandals. Long pants should be worn. Up to two miles of walking may occur at the management area with some moderate inclines\, but all at a reasonable pace. Binoculars are available to borrow. \nThe cost is $34 per person. Ticket or package prices include taxes\, but not gratuity. SUMMARY:Three Rivers Avian Center Public Tour
DESCRIPTION:If you’re visiting Bluestone State Park and enjoying the natural beauty of the Hinton and Brooks\, W.Va. area\, Three Rivers Avian Center is open today only\, Saturday\, October 1\, 2022\, for free public tours. Public tours are only offered from 1:00-5:00 p.m. This is the final public tour in 2022. Public tours were from May – October. \nIf you make the trip\, you’ll visit with live raptor ambassadors featuring hawks\, owls\, falcons\, vulture and bald eagle\, and enjoy interactive educational displays\, tour the facility and visit with friends from Hanging Rock Raptor Observatory. The last tour of the day starts at 4:30 p.m. \nTRAC is a private 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to conserving West Virginia’s wild birds and to educating and involving the public in ecosystem stewardship. Donations are welcome. This is TRACs 32nd year of caring for wild birds in the Mountain State of West Virginia. \nFor directions to Three River Avian Center visit www.tracwv.org or call 304.466.4683. Please leave a message if you get voicemail. They may be taking care of birds and not by the phone. \nTRAC is a 30-40 minute drive and is about 15 miles away from the Bluestone State Park office.
