DESCRIPTION:Birding\, bagpipes\, geology and more is featured this weekend\, September 30 – October 2\, 2022 at Cacapon Resort State Park. If  you can’t attend the programs\, do visit the nature center or hike a trail and enjoy the approach of fall.  All programs start from the nature center unless indicated. \nFRIDAY\, September 30\, 2022 \n10:00AM\nBeginner Birding Walk\nLearn how to identify Cacapon’s common birds and woodpeckers by sight and sound. Binoculars provided. If you’re an experienced birder\, please join us.  The more we get together\, the more we learn. \nSATURDAY\, October 1\, 2022 \n10:30AM\nHistory Stroll\nJoin a guided hike on the early history of the park 1934-41 when Camp Morgan\, Civilian Conservation Corps began the project of building a West Virginia State Park. \n2:00PM\nBagpipe Concert at the Gazebo\nEnjoy an hour of bagpipe music at the outdoor gazebo\, near the nature center.  \n4:00PM\nIrish Road Bowling\nCome and find out how fun this sport is by rolling a cannon ball around a course. For more information on how this Irish sport came to America check out WWW.WV.IRB \nSUNDAY\, October 2\, 2022\n10:00AM\nGeology Hike\nMeet at the front desk of the lodge to take a guided hike of the Piney Ridge Trail.  \n1:30PM\nWeed Warriors\nMeet Allen Miller\, a naturalist to help save the park from invasive plants! Help pull and cut oriental bittersweet vines. Loppers provided. If you need to release some tension by doing some habitat improvement\, the weed warrior is the ticket.. Bring sturdy gloves. \nThe nature center is a great stop for all ages\, showcasing exhibits on the park history and the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) Camp Morgan 1934-41. Other West Virginia natural exhibits include an extensive taxidermy collection of  wildlife- fish\, birds\, fox\, bobcat\, mountain lion\, deer\, elk\, and eastern grey wolf! Also\, hands-on sand displays for wildlife tracks and a new geology interactive map to design your own mountains\, rivers and lakes.

SUMMARY:Wings of Wonder\, Birds of Prey: Twin Falls
DESCRIPTION:Live birds of prey at Twin Falls Resort State Park are presented by the Three Rivers Avian Center (TRAC) on Friday\, September 30\, 2022 at 5:00 p.m.  The educational birds are a great opportunity to learn what birds say “who cooks for me\, who cooks for you all?” as well as meeting other raptors. \nThe evening program is all about raptors native to West Virginia: hawks\, eagles\, falcons\, and owls. You’ll learn about the habitat\, diet and behavior of each bird presented\, the most common causes of injury to each species and the laws protecting these special birds. There is no fee to attend.  \nOpen to the public\, the program lasts about an hour and will be presented in the Azalea Room at Twin Falls Resort State Park Lodge. Questions are welcomed.
