DESCRIPTION:It’s a murder mystery at Blackwater Falls Lodge! \nThe year is 1928 and we have gathered at a most popular speakeasy – Blackwater Falls. Everyone is having a fabulous time until the club’s new owner stumbles in and dies. Oh my! Suddenly the place is a crime scene and we’ll be asked to search for clues\, interrogate suspects and solve whodunnit. But wait! We learn that some of us are happy he’s dead. What? It’s true. There is a killer among us. Can you find them? Join us and find out. \nMake the evening more fun and come dressed as gangsters and flappers of the 1920s. \nThe event is an interactive murder mystery game of sorts. As a guest you are asked to participate in the mystery as a sleuth searching for clues and interrogating suspects\, or as a suspect proclaiming your innocence. Watch out! This is so much fun. \nDoor will open at 6:00 p.m. and the murderous fun is a game afoot. Advance reservations are necessary. DESCRIPTION:West Virginia Irish Road Bowling brings “Coopers Rock Tag Team” event to the forest on April 30\, 2022. \nTypically\, team road bowling events are for teams of 4. Straying from tradition\, the event at Coopers Rock State Forest will be the site of a doubles match. Join forces with your favorite friend\, relative\, coworker\, or even pay a seasoned bowler to be your partner. This year’s winners will receive their own Championship Belts. Not to mention the customary bragging rights that come with every victory. \nLocated near Morgantown and Cheat Lake\, W.Va.\, Coopers Rock State Forest offers Irish Road Bowling\, a beautiful spring setting for a family fun event. The park closes the course to traffic during the event\, a rarity in this game\, however\, the forest is not closed to the public during the event. DESCRIPTION:Early April through mid-May 2022 in Southern West Virginia celebrates the glories of spring in Appalachia from the rim of the gorge to the river! Explore the area’s natural diversity and contribute as a citizen scientist at New River Gorge National Park and Preserve\, Tamarack Marketplace\, Beckley Art Center\, and the state parks of Babcock\, Carnifex Ferry Battlefield\, Hawks Nest\, Pipestem Resort\, and Twin Falls Resort. \nAll programs are FREE unless noted. Some programs require reservations. Social distancing and current health protocols will be practiced during all event activities. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Bring water and wear sturdy walking shoes for guided walks. Snacks\, binoculars\, a hand lens\, field guides\, a favorite smart device pre-loaded with nature apps\, and a camera are also useful. \nApril 30\, 2022\n10:00 am – 12:00 pm\nCarnifex Nature Trek.\nMeet at the Patterson House at Carnifex Ferry Battlefield State Park in Summersville\, WV. Hike trails of forest and field to discover forest to take a closer look at this park’s diverse ecology\, including rare species. Be prepared for an easy 2-mile hike with some moderate terrain.

DESCRIPTION:Bluebirds make people happy. \nOn Saturday\, April 30\, 2022 at Blackwater Falls nature center you can make a bluebird nesting box\, learn how to maintain the box and enjoy a program about bluebirds and sightings across West Virginia. This is an excellent program for families or individuals to take advantage. \nYou’ll assemble your own bluebird nesting box from a precut kit to take home. Use of hammer and nails to construct the nesting boxes is a learning process and the instructor will be available to assist with assembly. A template and instructions for cutting and making more boxes will be handed out along with some information about how to attract bluebirds. \nA PowerPoint presentation of bluebird sightings across West Virginia is part of the activity.
