SUMMARY:Weekend Nature Activities: Pipestem
DESCRIPTION:Pipestem Resort sits on the east rim of the Bluestone River Gorge\, which carves through the plateau to the scenic Bluestone River 1\,200 feet below. Visit the Nature Center\, which is open Wednesday – Sunday\, 11:00 am – 5:00 pm except for times when other activities listed below are scheduled. \nOpen to the public\, spend time at the exhibits and heritage structures and sit a spell in our West Virginia made rocking chairs and watch the birds. \nActivities planned March 17-20\, 2022 include: \nThursday\, March 17\, 2022\n5:00 pm\nWildlife of North America Game\nMeet Julie at the Nature Center for a quiz game about North American wildlife. \nFriday\, March 18\, 2022\n4:30 pm\nNature Center Open House\nMeet Julie at the Nature Center for information on the exhibits in our Nature Center. \nSaturday\, March 19\, 2022\n5:00 pm\nMammals of Pipestem\nMeet Julie at the Nature Center to learn about seven different mammals you may encounter at Pipestem and see their pelts. \nNoon\nBird Count\nStop by the Nature Center to observe and count the birds at the feeders. We will count the highest number of each species seen at a time. Data collected will be submitted to Project FeederWatch for the Cornell Lab of Ornithology. In addition this week’s bird counts will be submitted as part of the Annual Great Backyard Bird Count. \n2:00 pm\nNature Hunt\nMeet Julie at the Nature Center. She will hand out a list of objects outside to look for in Nature. (1/2 – 1 hour) \nSunday\, March 20\, 2022\n8:30 am\nSunday Service\nJoin us in the Faulconer Room for Sunday Service. \n11:00 am\nBird Count\nStop by the Nature Center to observe and count the birds at the feeders. We will count the highest number of each species seen at a time.
