SUMMARY:Spring Activities: Pipestem
DESCRIPTION:Pipestem Resort sits on the east rim of the Bluestone River Gorge\, which carves through the plateau to the scenic Bluestone River 1\,200 feet below. Visit the Nature Center\, which is open Thursday & Friday 11 am – 5 pm\, and Sunday\, 11 am – 5 pm except for times when other activities listed below are scheduled. Open to the public\, spend time at the exhibits and heritage structures and sit a spell in our West Virginia made rocking chairs and watch the birds. \nActivities planned March 10 – 13\, 2022 include: \nThursday\, March 10\, 2022 \n4:30 pm\nNature Center Open House\nMeet Julie at the Nature Center for information on the exhibits in our Nature Center. \n5:00 pm Mammals of Pipestem- Meet Julie at the Nature Center to learn about seven different mammals you may encounter at Pipestem and see their pelts. \nFriday\, March 11\, 2022 \n4:00 pm\nWildlife of North America Game\nMeet Julie at the Nature Center for a quiz game about North American wildlife. \n5:00 pm\nNature Hunt\nMeet Julie at the Nature Center. She will hand out a list of objects outside to look for in Nature. (1/2 – 1 hour) \nSaturday\, March 12\, 2022\nGreen Day Hike @ Pipestem\nJoin Park Naturalist Julie McQuade for the Annual Green Day hike at Pipestem Resort State Park on March 12\, 2022 This year’s hike will follow golf course holes 1 through 9 along the golf cart path at the 18-hole golf course and cover 2-½ miles. We will meet in front of the Golf Pro Shop at 4:00 pm. Participants will receive a Green Day patch upon completion. Feel free to deck out in your favorite St. Patrick’s day bling. The Naturalist will also hand out green beads before the hike. \nSunday\, March 13\, 2022\n8:30 am\nSunday Service\nJoin us in the Faulconer Room for Sunday Service. \n11:00 am\nBird Count\nStop by the Nature Center to observe and count the birds at the feeders. We will count the highest number of each species seen at a time. Data collected will be submitted to Project FeederWatch for the Cornell Lab of Ornithology. In addition this week’s bird counts will be submitted as part of the Annual Great Backyard Bird Count. \nNature activities are open to the public and free to attend. \nReserve lodging online: \nBook Now

DESCRIPTION:Spring is arriving and nature activities at Blackwater Falls and Park Naturalist Paulita Cousin welcome you to these programs March 12-13\, 2022. \nSaturday\, March 12\, 2022\n10:00 a.m.\nMeet our Snakes\nJoin the naturalist to learn about snakes found in West Virginia and meet a resident of the Nature Center. About 1 hour. YPP \n11:10 a.m.\nWooden Snake Craft\nUse colorful markers or paint on a wiggly snake. Craft fee: $2.50 \n12:30 p.m.\nFriendship Bracelet Craft\nUse embroidery floss to braid a fun bracelet with Brittany\, recreation attendant. Recommended for ages 9 and up. FREE \n1:30 p.m.\nWhat’s Cooking?\nJoin the naturalist to make a yummy dessert over a open fire using a pie iron and perhaps make your own ice cream to go with it. About 1 hour.
