Join Kanawha State Forest Naturalist Jess Blalock for an interpretive hike along the CCC Snipe Trail where we’ll examine how microhabitats benefit the forest! Junior Naturalists will complete an investigation from Project Learning Tree to learn about the different organisms that live on, in, under, and around fallen logs along the route, and how their activities recycle nutrients back into the forest soil. Adults will learn to identify common species of wood-loving saprobic fungi, including which ones are medicinal or edible. While this is an easy hike, sturdy shoes and tick repellent are strongly recommended! Junior Naturalist Patch/Pin eligible program! All participants will earn a WonderFall patch.
