Winter Campfires and Luminaries

Blackwater Falls is a sledding mecca, however, the nature center is open and other daily activities are planned. Check out these free Saturday activities:
A Christmas Campfire is planned at 4:30 p.m. Get outside at the Nature Center Fire Ring and sing Christmas Carols, share stories and roast marshmallows around a roaring fire for about an hour. Join the wintry fun!
Luminary Bag decorating and placement for tonight’s walk is at 6:30 p.m. Join the park naturalist at the Nature Center to decorate a free luminary bag, then place it along the beginning of trail for tonight’s walk. Help light the pathway for the winter solstice walk.
Winter Solstice Walk fall under a Full Moon. Starting at 8:00 p.m. with park naturalist Paulita Cousin, join everyone at the Nature Center to light up the longest night of the year. Luminary bags will be placed by guests at 6:30 p.m. The walk is 1 – 1 1/2 miles. Wearing of sweaters encouraged, but any attire is welcomed. Layer for weather and fun. Whoo-who knows what we may hear, sense or smell. The nature center overlooks Pendleton Lake. Moon shine and luminaries light up the night. Family friendly.
