West Virginia Day Activities at North Bend
June 19, 2018 @ 9:01 pm
The place to be for outdoor fun and nature is North Bend State Park. Wednesday activities include:
- 9:30 a.m. Giant Pine Trail Hike – Meet the park naturalist for a hike through some of the biggest and oldest white pine trees on the park. Forests are always in transition and, as you journey along the trail, you’ll see smaller hardwoods in the understory and have opportunities to see wildlife who call this forest home, including small mammals, white tailed deer, and birds. This is a shorter, loop trail and is perfect for anyone wanting to stretch their legs and get moving outside. Meet in the lobby of the North Bend Lodge. (0.6 miles, 1 hour) YPP
- 11 a.m. Friendship Bracelet Craft – Make a bracelet to give to a friend you made at North Bend or one you left back home. Learn a few common techniques and patterns and create a cool wearable souvenir for you or your friend. We will meet at the Nature Center. (1 hour)
- 1-3 p.m. Nature Center Open – Come inside to enjoy arts and crafts and a chance to meet some of our wildlife friends. Take a look around and marvel at the mysteries of nature.
- 3:30 p.m. Marvelous Mammals Presentation – Mammals are some of the largest animals on planet Earth. But what is it that makes them so different from other groups of animals? Find out when you attend this exciting and educational nature program and learn about West Virginia mammals and those that you can find at North Bend. Meet at the Nature Center. (1 hour) YPP
